The Quantum Paths of My Life<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The reason I casually concluded that I was about seven years old at the time is that I was already able to read, though I hadn\u2019t yet started school. I remember reading a book about Einstein, which wasn\u2019t a simplified biography for children. It\u2019s likely that my dream of becoming a scientist, which I\u2019d had even before then, led me to pick up that book.
On the first page, the book mentioned that Einstein had been deeply curious about time but ultimately passed away without unraveling its secrets. That moment stayed with me. I decided then and there that I would become the scientist who solved the mystery of \u201ctime,\u201d something even Einstein couldn\u2019t achieve. It was the moment that set the coordinates for my life.
I eventually entered the physics department of my dreams as the top-ranked student, quickly gaining the attention of my professors. I became the first freshman to join the quantum mechanics lab, where, in the adjacent room, a large particle accelerator filled an entire space.

By now, you might expect the next part of this story to involve me winning a Nobel Prize in Physics, but that\u2019s not what happened. Rather, I chose a different path. (Whether or not I could have won the prize is a question for another time.)
How many fateful moments come into a person\u2019s life? Just as \u201cphysics\u201d found me as a young child, \u201cfilm\u201d found me as a high school student. Although I held onto reason and followed my plan to study physics, my life may have already been caught up in the whirlwind of a storm.
As I walked into that storm, my life began to expand into multiple versions, and by now, it had been updated to its eighth version. The first philosophical question of my life\u2014\u201cWhat is time?\u201d\u2014has not been answered. Instead, I take comfort in the words of Saint Augustine, quoted by Borges: \u201cIf no one asks me what time is, I know. If someone asks me, I do not know.\u201d
That doesn\u2019t mean my interest in physics has faded. On the contrary, I find joy in the fact that quantum mechanics has become a popular topic today. The multiverse, string theory, Calabi-Yau manifolds, the many-worlds interpretation… Physics is a philosophy that imagines possibilities beyond possibilities.
And even now, I still love physics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
